He came in dehydrated but alert, curious, and very vocal. This little guy is only 3-4 weeks old, and in the wild would always be attached to his mother’s belly at this age. Our volunteers and orphan care staff are spending all day with him to help him gain confidence. He is also being introduced to our other baboon orphan – Haggis, pictured in one of the photos – so hopefully they will become fast friends.

Despite being young and tiny, we have high hopes for this little baboon as each day he gains more and more confidence and gets more and more curious, healthy, and sociable.

If you’re still racking your brains for that perfect ‘wildlife lover’ Christmas present then you can adopt one of our rescued wild animals for $50/£30. In return for donating towards their food, care and treatment costs here in LWC, we’ll send you a personalised adoption e-certificate and an information pack. Find out more about the animals you can adopt here
