This young yellow baboon joined us last week after being surrendered by a man who had been keeping her as a pet. He had kept her for the last couple of years, but she was becoming too much to handle – which is often the case when people try to raise wild animals. Our rescue team collected her from the man and took her back for a check up with our vet team who swiftly removed the rope from around her waist. She’s very used to people so we are trying to encourage more natural behaviours, such as grooming, and an appropriate diet. Thankfully she is in a good condition and we will now work towards introducing her to her new baboon family here at Lilongwe Wildlife Centre.
