LILONGWE WILDLIFE CENTRE NEWS: Last week a female duiker was found caught on a poachers snare just meters from the wildlife centre. Fortunately, as it was so close, we were able to get to her in good time to free her from the snare but she encountered a nasty cut on her chin and some deep scratches on her neck. After cleaning up her wounds we kept her in for a few days to make sure she was healing well then released her back into the wilderness to forage freely! It’s very worrying that there are snares so close to the centre but it this case it meant we were able to get to the victim just in time.
