We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Votch, a cruelty free watch company.
Based in the UK, Votch makes beautiful watches with vegan leather straps. Every three months, the company donates 10% of its profits to a charity. We’re delighted to be Votch’s charity partner for the months of August, September and October 2020!
Founder Laura says:
“We celebrate our fourth birthday in August and without doubt our proudest achievement is that we have partnered up with so many incredible charities doing invaluable work for animals wild and domestic, around the world. For the next quarter we are delighted to be returning to Africa and working with Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, the only wildlife rescue facility in the whole of Malawi.”
The inspiration for Votch came a few years back when Laura was struck down with a condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal, a condition that saw all her skin fall off. During the years that it took her to recover, she turned to documentaries and educated herself on various subjects regarding animal welfare, including facts about the leather industry that truly shocked her.
She says: “Seeing the suffering that animals endured simply for fashion, and having felt the pain of losing my own skin, I vowed never to wear the skin of another being again. When I recovered, and with a new-found vegan perspective on life, I knew I had to create something where I could make a change in this world.Â
Finding accessories that are stylish but cruelty free isn’t always that easy, and when an old watch strap broke and finding a watch I liked that was simple and stylish, but with a faux leather strap was pretty impossible, the lightbulb moment happened and Votch was born!”
