EXPLORE THE FOREST

Featuring one of the last remaining stands of Acacia/Combretum forest in Malawi’s Central Region, this green oasis is the perfect place to explore the peace and beauty of nature.

Trail map

Protecting wildlife

The site hosts Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary. In order to give rescued animals the best possible chance of being released, we have to make sure they retain their wild behaviours and do not spend too much time around people. For this reason, the sanctuary is closed to the public. However, entrance fees help to fund our wildlife rescue work – so by visiting the wider site you are helping to save animals!

So much to discover…

Forest boardwalk

Get closer to the tree canopy on our elevated forest boardwalk. Enjoy scenic views over the Lingadzi River and explore a series of fun learning stops for all the family.

Scenic trails

Explore our beautiful trails through the forest and along the river – ideal for walking and running! There are three main trails of 2km, 3.5km and 4.8km.

Riverside birdwatching

Lilongwe Wildlife Centre is home to over 200 bird species. See how many you can spot from our riverside
bird hide.

WILDLIFE SCULPTURES
