Last month 38 students who were taking part in our Adult Literacy programme received the fantastic news that they had passed their exams.
The Lilongwe based students studied reading, writing, comprehension and mathematics.
Many of the programme participants were farmers, so lessons were conducted during their off season to increase attendance.
The curriculum covers many practical issues such as family planning, HIV and agriculture. It’s hoped that with their new reading and writing skills students will be able to develop their businesses and make more informed decisions in their home lives. In addition, the learners now have an understanding of the key wildlife and conservation issues facing their land.
Students and teachers will have time to celebrate this achievement in December when a graduation will be held.
Congratulations to the students and thank you to HI5 for their continued support of this project.
