PEDAL POWER CINEMA VISITS LIWONDE

Last week, Lilongwe Wildlife Trust’s Pedal Power Cinema made an appearance at Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park during the visit from our Royal patron, HRH The Duke of Gloucester.

The mobile cinema, which is partly funded by the British High Commission, is custom-made equipment consisting of a portable pedal generator, LED projector and specially designed cinema system, all contained in one small box. Powered by continuous pedalling – without the need for electricity – the cinema can be taken to even the most remote parts of Malawi.

In Liwonde, local children watch two films produced by LWT – ’30 Years’, which addresses the new wildlife crime sentences introduced in the updated Wildlife Act, and ‘Elephant, I Miss You’, which imagines a future without elephants. 

A big thank you Central African Wilderness Safaris (CAWS) and their programme, Children In The Wilderness, who organised for the children to come along and also fed and put them up for the night.
