JOB DESCRIPTION
The Research and M&E Assistant provides support to the Director of Programmes and the Programmes Manager in the design, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust’s programmes. You will also work with programme staff members to help: design and prepare M&E plans, develop surveys, set-up mobile data collection tools, and research M&E best practices or other related topics.  You will support the development of the programmes qualitative and quantitative evidence-based practice.
DETAILS
Work hours: Full time (08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday)
Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Salary: $1,600 per month
Essential duties and responsibilities
Support staff in the planning and implementation of programmes focusing on the overall M&E
Assist in the development of the programme monitoring and evaluation framework and its effective and efficient implementation
Ensure that logic frameworks and impact indicators defined are SMART
Develop measurement methods and identify data sources for programme performance and impact indicators in conjunction with programme team members
Assist with the development of a consolidated monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting system and format for programme staff, with designated sections for each programme component
Assist in the conduct of programme baseline and progress surveys
Prepare workplans and associated budgets for M&E related activities
Present and analyse data based on information needs of the programme team and stakeholders
Ensure that lessons learnt are fed back into programme development
Ensure that programme data is entered and updated on a timely basis
Prepare regular progress reports on activities undertaken, results achieved against targets, and plans for follow up actions
Support staff to ensure that there is proper monitoring, reporting, and effective management of the evaluation process
Education and/or work experience requirements
You need to be able to work independently and within a team, you have a strong focus on details, and you are able to solve issues proactively.
You should have a good understanding of M&E foundations and have some experience or training in survey design, data collection, and analysis. Field experience in M&E is a benefit.
You will have excellent written and spoken English. You are a great communicator in person and online.
Ideally you will have completed or are currently close to graduation in a postgraduate degree, though this is not required. Equivalent work experience will be accepted. What is most important is your energy, your skills, and dedication to our cause.
Advanced Excel skills, previous experience with data collection/analysis, workshop/meeting facilitation skills, and graphic design skills are preferred.
