42 teachers who took part in our summer training as part of our conservation education programme went back to school this week to put their learnings into practice.

LWT delivered training to primary school teachers from schools located in the border zones of Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh protected areas.teachers-trainingThe training’s focus was to build capacity, so that the teachers could use LWT environmental education guides and lesson planners. Subjects which were covered included wildlife crime, Human Wildlife Conflict and wildlife conservation and welfare.

The training sessions were also attended by Chairpersons of the Village Natural Resource Committees whose villages surround the park. Now that this vital training has been delivered, we will start work on a Monitoring and Evaluation tool that can be used to assess the impact of the programme across the country.
